10 Benefits of Being in God's Word


  1. The benefit of the greatest teacher (v. 12) - “Blessed are You, O LORD; teach me Your statutes.” See also: 26, 29, 33, 64, 66, 68, 102, 108, 124, 135, 171.
  2. The benefit of understanding God’s word (v. 34) - “Give me understanding, that I may observe Your law and keep it with all my heart.” See also: 66 and 73. 
  3. The benefit of love of God’s word (v. 162) - “I rejoice at Your word, as one who finds great spoil.” See also: 14, 73, 103 (sweet), 127, 140.
  4. The benefit of meditating on God’s word (v. 27) - “Make me understand the way of Your precepts, so I will meditate on Your wonders.” See also: 15, 48, 78, 97, 148.
  5. The benefit of clarity in affliction (vv. 71 and 75)
  6. The benefit of comfort (v. 76) - “O may Your lovingkindess comfort me, according to Your word to Your servant.” See also: 50, 52, 82.

    3. For salvation (94) - I am Yours, save me! (one of my favorite prayers in the Bible). 
    4. For grace (58) - Be gracious to me according to Your word
    5. For sanctification (75) - In faithfulness you have afflicted me
    6. For confession (176) - I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek Your servant.
