Tell Me More About Melchizedek

The Biblical character of Melchizedek is certainly intriguing, arising out of nowhere, possessing such a great name and title (King of Righteousness & Peace), and receiving such a large gift from Abraham, the father of faith, after his spoils of the war with the kings. But to what extent should we elevate him and what is the author of the Book of Hebrews suggesting by likening him to Christ and His priestly office?
